Finding courage and tenacity in the presence of black despair and hopelessness
An Australian Native Flower
I was impressed to go to this area in early Spring when most Waratahs were still sleeping. My husband and I tramped and climbed over rough terrain and scrub to find the three Waratahs that I'd been shown. I was about to give up when... there they were! All standing strong and tall near the top of a hill, in a small clearing surrounded by large rocks. What a beautiful sight - and a relief! (Solara Zwaneveld)
The word "Waratah" is an aboriginal name and it means beautiful. The flower consists of many individual flowers packed tightly into a spherical head and surrounded by bright, petal-like bracts. The bracts are very important as they protect and hold the flowers very closely and firmly together. They are like hands holding something precious and frail, and convey a nurturing, protective energy. The flower has also been likened to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
This remedy is for those who are going through a "black night of the soul", those who are in utter despair. It gives them the courage and strength to cope with their crises.
During times of crisis the Waratah essence is able to bring to the fore any survival skills that one has previously learnt. It can not only bring forward these old skills but can also amplify them. It is very much a survival remedy which embodies the qualities of the Australian bush dweller - being adaptable and able to cope successfully with all sorts of emergencies.
The Waratah remedy helps to engender courage. If people have some courage it will be increased. Likewise, their skills will be enhanced as they will have the courage to try. In times of crisis, they will be able to call on reserves of strength that they already possess.
Waratah is of great benefit to people who have experienced deep despair or suicidal feelings. It helps them find their faith and the courage to keep going. We never experience anything in life that we do not have the strength and ability to deal with. Waratah can help to bring us this awareness and understanding.
Waratah has been used successfully in Brazilian hospitals when treating ventricular failure and mitral valve insufficiency, in particular - and heart imbalances generally. Waratah can halt the condition of glaucoma, and can reverse it as well. It has also been used in hospitals to overcome transplant rejection. It is very useful for treating depression.
